“MUMA” FROM BUENOS AIRES teaches TANGO MILONGUERO and MILONGA
September 26-27th, 2009

Muma, the most glamorous milonguera of Buenos Aires, worked for years with the late Ricardo Vidort. Find out more about Muma here.

In the year before Ricardo Vidort's death, he and Liz Haight gave this demo (in Denver) to Canaro's Poema. This video has become iconic footage of the phenomenon of Vidort and his musical phrasin, and is considered a highlight in the history of the Denver Tango Festival.

And here is an enchanting introduction to Ricardo Vidort. Note the cameo appearances of Osvaldo and Coca relaxing at home with Ricardo. Osvaldo and Ricardo were practice partners as teenage boys. Make sure to keep watching at the end of the short documentary for the added footage of a demo given by Vidort at Nino Bien (Bs.As.) dancing with Myriam Pincen to Di Sarli's 1950s version of Comme Il Faut.

Muma is also a regular dance partner of Dany "El Flaco" Garcia. Here we see Dany's remarkable milonga traspie. He is dancing with Maria Plazaola at the 2008 Milongueando celebration at La Nacional (Bs.As.):

Muma has posted some great footage of her dancing with Dany in a demo at Sunderland, the famous basketball court that also happens to be the tango world's shrine to villa urquiza style dancing.

Muma's weekend workshop will focus on sharing the musicality of such masters as Ricardo Vidort and Dany "El Flaco" Garcia.
