Tony and Ilana have been dancing the Argentine tango together for over a decade. Together, they have studied with such notable dancers: Juan Bruno, Pepito Avelleneda, Susanna Miller, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Osvaldo Zotto and Lorena Ermocida, Daniela Arcuri and Armando Orzuza, Mariella Franganilla, Eric Jorissen, Brigitte Winkler, Rebecca Shulman, Cacho Dante, and Omar Vega.

Tony and Ilana host a weekly milonga and teach tango classes in the Seattle area. Their lessons, which focus on understanding the building blocks and musicality of tango, have grown increasingly popular since their first weekly classes in 1996. They are now leading one of the major tango schools in Seattle and offer special workshops around cities in the west coast.

2)
Lessons for Beginners

with FRANCIS & EMIKO

This introduction to the milonguero style, the traditional social dance of Buenos Aires, focusses on the connection to your partner and to the music. Our goal will be to establish a solid foundation of fundamentals, essential to progressing as a dancer: Posture; “the walk”; the embrace; the dynamics of movement in partnership. Students will learn how to combine elemental moves in order to freely interpret the music and to confidently navigate on a crowded dance floor.

THURSDAYs, 8:00 to 9:30 p.m.

$105/7-week session, $18 drop-in
